Western drama television series The Son spans three generations of the McCullough family. The action is set in the middle of the 19th century in Texas. At the age of 13 Eli McCullough was kidnapped by a tribe of Comanches who killed his mother and sister. Being the member of the tribe Eli became strong and brave and adopted the brutal Comanche worldview.

Upon his returning home years later he becomes the patriarch of the McCullough family. A grown Eli starts to build own oil empire and later turns it into a huge competitive company. It is the legacy of the McCullough family that descended from father to son. The series covers the period of 100 years full of adventures, love, blood, tears and courage of a south Texan family.
